Recycling

Users of the facilities are encouraged to use recycling containers for all recyclable materials. Details of the recycling programs offered by Virginia Peninsulas Public Service Authority (VPPSA) are available in other documents. The following opportunities for recycling will be made available to the users of the facility

  • Cooking Oil
  • Corrugated cardboard
  • Lead acid batteries
  • Mixed paper
  • Oil and antifreeze
  • Plastic, glass, and metal jars, bottles, jugs and containers
  • Rechargeable Batteries
  • Scrap metal
  • Used tires

Refrigerators & Freezers

Doors must be removed from all refrigerators and freezers

Tires

A maximum of twelve tires per year will be accepted from residents and property owners. Tires will not be accepted from commercial operations. Details of the acceptance of used tires are included in the Mathews Tire Acceptance Policy document prepared by VPPSA.

Oil & Antifreeze

Oil and Antifreeze will be accepted only in containers with a volume of five gallons or less.
